Between Davido, Wizkid & Olamide: Who Has Recorded The Highest Number Of Hit Songs In 2017?
The gamut of young Nigerian musicians is a great thing to behold. The three music icons above have greatly affected the music industry in Nigeria positively and in the world. They have rendered foreign music practically redundant at disco parties, clubs and other parties in Nigeria.
Some of Wizkid’s songs have trended on foreign billboards and charts and he has become a strong force to reckon with in the musical world. Davido was signed to an international label, Sony Music Entertainment while Olamide’s songs are recognized nationwide for being indigenous and have topped Nigerian music charts too.
Back to the biggest question of the moment, which of these three artistes have the most hits of the year? First, hit songs tend to hijack everyone’s attention whenever and wherever they are played. Based on this, hit sings from Davido include ‘If’ and ‘Fall’ that rocked the Nigerian music waves for months especially the most recent one ‘Pere’. Wizkid’s include ‘Medicine’ ‘Sweet Love’ and ‘Come Closer’ featuring Drake. Olamide’s hit songs this year include ‘Wavy Level’ and ‘Wo!’. This is indeed a tough nut to crack.
Although Olamide’s genre of music is locally recognized and quite different from that of Davido and Wizkid, he is still yet to make a mark with his songs in the international scene even till this year. Both Wizkid and Davido were nominated for the 2017 BET Awards in the highly controversial “Best International Act; African Category with Wizkid taking the award home.
All three aforementioned artistes have in one way or the other contributed to the development of the Nigerian music industry and nature of African music at the international level. Truth be told, it is almost impossible to pick who has the most hit songs this year.
